چکیده
Background and aimsInflammation has been revealed to facilitate thrombogenesis increase the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). However, limited data are available on association between anti-inflammatory diet incident VTE. We conducted a cohort analysis examine this further whether is modified by smoking status, trigger systemic inflammation. Methods resultsWe used from two cohorts including 81,507 middle-aged older Swedish adults without previous VTE at baseline. An empirically validated index (AIDI), based 12 foods with potential 5 pro-inflammatory potential, was employed estimate diet. Hazard ratios (HRs), corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs), were estimated Cox proportional hazards regression models. During mean follow-up 17.8-years, 5241 cases diagnosed. Compared individuals in lowest quartile AIDI (score ?4), those highest ?8) had 9% (95% CI, 0–17%) lower The inverse observed current past smokers (HR extreme quartiles, 0.80, 0.70–0.91) but not never (HR, 1.03, 0.91–1.17). French fries per serving, 1.33, 1.06, 1.67) no other included associated VTE.ConclusionThe study suggests that consumption high may play role prevention smokers.

Venous Thromboembolism Following Travel
International travel has become increasingly common and accessible, hence, about two billion passengers undertake international and domestic air travel each year. Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a serious public health disorder which may occur following prolonged travel, especially after air travel. A direct relation between VTE development and prolonged travels has been documented, while some ...
متن کاملProspective study of diet and venous thromboembolism in US women and men.
The authors investigated diet as a risk factor for the development of venous thromboembolism (VTE) among 129,430 US women and men in the Nurses' Health Study and Health Professionals Follow-up Study. There were 2,892 cases of VTE from 1984 through 2008. Information on participants' dietary intakes was collected every 2-4 years using a food frequency questionnaire. Dietary patterns (prudent vs. ...
متن کاملIs venous thromboembolism a chronic inflammatory disease?
Venous thromboembolism (VTE) traditionally has been considered a time-limited acute disease. Patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or pulmonary embolism (PE) following major surgery, trauma, or periods of immobility are frequently treated with anticoagulation for a limited duration of 3 to 6 months. However, a subset of patients who suffer idiopathic (unprovoked) VTE have a high risk of recu...
متن کاملHospital performance for pharmacologic venous thromboembolism prophylaxis and rate of venous thromboembolism : a cohort study.
IMPORTANCE Hospitalization for acute medical illness is associated with increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Although efforts designed to increase use of pharmacologic VTE prophylaxis are intended to reduce hospital-associated VTE, whether higher rates of prophylaxis reduce VTE in medical patients is unknown. OBJECTIVE To examine the association between pharmacologic VTE prophylaxi...
متن کاملNon-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and risk of venous thromboembolism: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to integrate and examine the association between NSAID use and venous thromboembolism (VTE). METHODS We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of studies that reported odds ratios, relative risks, hazard ratios or standardized incidence ratios for VTE among NSAID users compared with non-users. Pooled risk ratios and 95% CIs were calculated using a ...
